Biography

Steven Wolfe Pereira began his career in finance, working at Salomon Smith Barney and The Blackstone Group. In 1999 he joined Akamai Technologies in its network engineering group, at the point when content delivery was becoming core internet infrastructure.

He went on to hold senior leadership roles at Publicis Groupe and TelevisaUnivision, and served as Chief Marketing Officer at Quantcast, at Datalogix, which Oracle acquired in 2015, and at Neustar, which Golden Gate Capital acquired in 2021. He later co-founded Encantos, an education technology company.

In 2024 he founded Alpha Governance Group PBC, a public benefit corporation that rates and analyses how organizations govern artificial intelligence. Alpha is organized around the Alpha Institute for research, standards, and education, Alpha Ratings for public and private assessments, and Alpha Intelligence for governance data and analytics, running on the AEGIS platform.

He writes Alpha BoardBrief, a briefing for directors and executives on AI, technology, and enterprise oversight, and serves as a director and board-level advisor on technology, data, and risk.
